It was discussed here and Harrumph said something about the sync levels. There are sync options you can mess with but I’m not entirely sure what specific settings you’d use. A lot of people say to put H-PLL Pre-Post and H-PLL Post-Coast on 3 when people have sync issues, though I’ve never tried that with my PS1 yet. My PS2 never does that wavy thing, even if I’m playing PS1 games, only the PS1 seems to do it.
Edit: If it matters, the PS2 has capacitors built into the console itself on the RGB lines, where the PS1 doesn’t have those and the caps must be built into the cable itself. Maybe this could have something to do with it.
