I’m not entirely sure, but my understanding is that that TRS jack, when configured as an AV1 audio breakout, is just routing the audio directly from SCART to the TRS jack, without any processing at all; and that seems to be backed up by the behavior you’re experiencing. I think it’s possible but unlikely that both your cables are messed up in exactly the same way, so it sounds to me like there’s a bad solder joint somewhere between the SCART socket and whatever circuitry directs the audio between the OSSC and the TRS jack.
