Hi I’m currently trying to get my OSSC Pro to output in VRR or Freesync on LG CX in hopes of reducing input lag but I can’t seem to get it to output in VRR mode because when I bring up the LG VRR states it says it’s in fixed refresh rate mode and not in Freesync or VRR… any help getting VRR to work would be appreciated.

Does the TV actually have a lower lag in VRR mode? Usually that only helps with non-standard refresh rates which the TV might not otherwise accept.

According to the Rtings LG CX TV review that VRR reduces latency about .8ms~ (5.9ms) over 120Hz fixed refresh rate (6.7ms)… It’s not clear if those gains are only for sources outputting 120fps or if there would be gains if VRR was matching 60 fps… I think if your source is set to output 120hz and your games is running at only 60fps and your monitor is in VRR mode so it technically running at 60hz but you have the display lag of 120hz at least that what read on the blur busters forums… Is It possible to spoof 120hz VRR output mode and then have VRR match the source refresh rate at 1080p and possibly 1440p or 2880x2160p on the OSSC Pro… I was able to get GSYNC working with my LG CX when I used my friends computer with easy so I don’t know why freesync isn’t working coming from the OSSC Pro… I’m hoping to reduce input lag as much as possible

The issue sounds similar to this. I can only think of max_framerate value in the transmitted metadata potentially confusing some TVs as it’s set to constant 144Hz instead of being bounded what is reported in EDID. Pro does not currently vary / extend blanking time and doing that would just add latency in itself.

I recently borrowed my friends regular OSSC classic and when enabling freesync flag on the OSSC classic it worked with my LG CX where as with the OSSC Pro with firmware v0.77 it doesn’t.

This is an known issue and have been fixed a few months ago in devel version. A new Pro firmware is released later this week which incorporates the fix.
