It “did” have a Messiah modchip with a couple of loose wires I carefully removed to no avail.

Just to update too. I bought a 2nd hand NTSC-J console and that works perfectly. It jitters at 4x but…Read more

I’m still morbidly curious HOW the YPrPb is disabled. I inspected the board and there are not visible cut tracks, bridged pins (due to poor modchip installed) etc.

All I can think of is some damaged components on the lines but that’s above my skillset!

Interesting development.

I borrowed a friends slim ps2. Worked instantly.

Curiously while having the composite hooked to green. And using AV2 RGB upon setting the console to YPbPr the screen turns green. While nothing changes on mine

This leads me to believe component output is non functioning on my console. Do you have any pointers where to…Read more

Think I may have worked out whats wrong. There’s a Messiah (1) modchip fitted I wasn’t aware of with loose wires due to the age. I’m going to desolder that as I don’t need it any more and try again!

Yessir!

If I whack the green back into the RCA and adjust Analog sync Vth. I can get all the way up to 349mV and nothing happens 🙁

Hi All,

I’m having a bit of a nightmare!

Been getting back into the PS2 a bit recently and forked out the cash for a 1.8 OSSC.

Arrived. Hooked up, didn’t work.
Updated fw to 1.09 (shipped with 1.07). Didn’t change.
Bought another cable with combined component and composite outputs. Didn’t work BUT I did notice something weird.

I know PS2…Read more
