marqs, I’ve been wondering about this for a while now: would it be possible to take a regular OSSC 1.8, desolder the RAM, add a similar RAM module but with higher capacity and rework the firmware to accept features such as motion adaptive deinterlacing? even if only at say, 2x

Update: I managed to finish the mod and everything’s perfect! except one thing: PS2 @ 480i. Passthrough, line2x/etc…, nothing works. Tried both with default settings and Wobbling pixel’s PS2 config and timings. The OSSC just loses signal constantly and randomly.

I started with firmware 1.09 which resulted in PSP working but Sega genesis…Read more

Update: so I decided to turn it on anyways and it works fine without the R35 resistor but without the wire from it to pin 25. But after the update to firmware 1.09 it can’t get sync with any of my consoles.
So I reverted back to the old firmware. Anyways, I’ll get a better soldering iron and finish the job later.

I managed to desolder the R35 resistor without damaging the board and the pad however, I’m using world’s worst soldering iron and I can’t really melt my solder to get a wire from where the resistor was to pin 25…

If I turn on the OSSC without the R35 resistor but no wire to pin 25 will my board be damaged?

Interesting. Well, that explains it. Honestly, I think that it’s indeed a clone and in that case, I think doing the mod would probably result in issues anyways considering clones go for cheaper off-spec parts.

I’d much rather buy the original ossc but my country’s taxation policies on imports forced me to go for a chinese retailer (since this was…Read more

Update: I actually had to revert back to firmware ‘latest_release_audio’ because every firmware I tried under “v1 series” (1.01 through 1.08) had issues with scaling not working, sync and image being duplicated on 480i sources.

So I’m guessing firmware versions 1.01 – 1.08 are meant for 1.8 boards? either that or I have a clone that only works…Read more

Ok, so I did install firmware 1.08 on my unmodded 1.7 ossc and it does boot and the shadow mask filters work. But sync is broken on all my tested consoles.
I tried setting the timings manually but even then, it’s bugged and not worth it. Line multiplication also doesn’t work.

The ossc controller also stopped working and I had to resync it with…Read more
