Convert composite, s-video and component from your classic computers and games consoles in up to 480p resolution! The RetroTINK 2X Pro Multi-format (RT2X-M) is a new product in the 2X line that supports pass through of 480p content for newer consoles that are capable of progressive scan component output. At the same time, the 2X-M is capable of zero-lag line doubling of 240p/288p/480i/576i like the rest of the 2X family.
Note that the RetroTINK 2X Pro Multi-format does NOT replace the RetroTINK 2X Pro. In order to bring 480p compatibility at an affordable price point, some other sacrifices had to be made.
The RT2X-M is particularly popular with PS2 gamers. While it still cannot do the kind of sopisticated deinterlacing that a full scaler/deinterlacer could, many users feel it gives the best looking image possible for 3D games without adding input lag. This is because the unit uses slightly different scaling to the RetroTINK 2X Pro (bilinear vs nearest neighbour).

What does it do?
Processes (line doubles) retro games with NO input lag – Unlike other scalers (such as the XRGB Mini), the RT2X-M works on individual scanlines rather than a frame at a time, that means there’s no input lag whatsoever (well, a few nanoseconds if you really want to be precise).
Eliminates ugly deinterlacing artefacts and bad scaling – Connect most retro consoles to your TV and if you get a picture at all, it’s likely to be ugly. Bad scaling combined with deinterlacing (which should never even be applied to 240p material) will ruin the picture and make you wish you had your old CRT back. Well, worry no more! RT2X-M converts the image into a 480p image that is correctly displayed and processed. EVERY special effect, from 240p drop shadows to striped sprites, is rendered correctly.
Supports composite and S-Video – Unlike OSSC, RT2X-M supports composite and S-Video as well as component video (RGB video is not supported on the RT2X-M). This allows a much wider range of legacy computer and games console equipment to be used with the unit.
Add scanlines – Add cool looking scanlines to your line doubled image, just like on a real classic CRT television.
Adjustable comb filter – Choose the best comb filtering mode for your source, you can choose between Retro (notch) and Video (2-D comb).
USB Powered – Power RT2X-M from a USB port (1 amp of current is required, USB cable not included) or use one of our multi-region power supply units. RetroTINK 2X Pro Multi-format is compatible with the same PSU as the other RetroTINK products.

Please note that the 2X-M uses a 4:2:2 chroma subsampling for all modes of operation. This has no impact on composite or S-video since those formats inherently have low colour resolution. For 240p games the impact is minimal. The effect is most pronounced when using 480p systems that output full 4:4:4 YPbPr. If you are sensitive to chroma subsampling, the best choice for you is the OSSC. Note that the Wii operates natively in 4:2:2, so there is minimal impact with this console.
