I got my OSSC a few weeks back It came preloaded with 0.81 (or 0.82 not sure) connected it up with my JP MD1 and noticed no issues with the picture. It locked on correctly to the MDs output and showed the full smpte h. viewable area as I expected. I then immediately upgraded to 0.85 and now the h. area has the h. blank backporch visable for some reason. With default settings, h. backporch 57 and h. samplerate 858 it looks like this

Here it is after changing settings to h. backporch 84 and h. samplerate 885, I get a proper edge to edge picture without the h. blank backporch visible.

But I did not need to alter these settings to get a proper sized picture with the factory firmware. Reverting back to 0.81 doesn’t help this issue. What happened to my OSSC? is it now faulty? @BuckoA51 @marqs please respond. My JP MD1, JP MD2 and US G2 behave the same with OSSC 0.85. Pics are from JP MD2 since my MD1 picture is noisy AF.
Here is startup screen showing its not an issue with my display. The zoom/overscan is set to “Full” for the photos, I set it to 4:3 usually for OSSC.

February 3, 2020 at 4:49 AM #35141Here are the direct links to the bigger versions. I forgot to fix the thumbnails to link to the bigger versions.

ibb.co/hmwmb42Here is comparison photo. The red line shows the h. blank back porch is visable with default settings. It was not like that with factory firmware. It was like in the 2nd photo. But reverting to old firmware isn’t fixing it.
ibb.co/ckZjPF8edit: btw I had to remove the h t t p from the links or else the board threw a error message about spam.
February 3, 2020 at 10:51 AM #35148Have you changed/tried a different RGB cable since you first tried your Megadrive?
February 3, 2020 at 6:45 PM #35161When I first tried it with original firmware (before upgrade to 0.85) I used insurrection industries MD1 SCART cable with my JP MD1, after upgrading is when the h. blank backporch became visable. After the upgrade I pulled out an old retro console accessories md2 jp21 cable (which contains a sync buffer ic unlike the insurrection cable, and tried that with my jp MD2 and my US G2. h. blank backporch still visable with default settings.
February 4, 2020 at 12:27 PM #35182I’m at a loss to explain that then! Hopefully it’s just a matter of correcting backporch and saving the profile though?
February 4, 2020 at 8:44 PM #35192Yeah, as I said in my first post, after adjusting h.backporch and h.samplerate and saving, I can get a normal edge to edge picture as shown in the second pic.
But my point is that I shouldn’t have to do that. Can I get a replacement possibly?February 4, 2020 at 11:51 PM #35193What lol. There’s nothing wrong with your ossc.
