    Maybe i’m wrong, but as far as i understand, a real power on/off via remote isn’t possible with the current hardware design, since the FPGA working is needed for the remote control to work… and the FPGA itself can’t control the power supply for the A/D converter IC or the HDMI transmitter IC either.

    However the FPGA can control the LCD, the LCD backlight and the LEDs – so there may be some kind of “fake” standby possible, where the LCD, its backlight and the LEDs are turned off. But all the ICs and voltage regulators would still work constantly, while diminishing their life spans.
