The first thing I would alter is the sync Vth (sync slicer). This has been mentioned in other threads regarding SNES (iirc people had problems with donkey kong country).
Regarding the bending on NES, this is normal and is due to the sync jitter.
Edit: heres a Link to the thread I was referring to. I see now they’re talking about pal snes, but perhaps the problem is still similar on your console.
