The curving is normal for NES and is, I believe, caused by the jitter in the sync line. Normally, this part of the image is cut off on a CRT, so you wouldn’t even notice it. But when you see the full picture, it’s definitely there. There’s a mod out to fix the jitter issue that will be available on this web site soon, as I understand it. I will be installing it in my NES in the next week or so and can let you know if it helps with that particular issue. I can say that it absolutely helped normalize sync on my SNES, but I never had the issue you are having. It always worked, it just didn’t work on anything above line2x (or at least audio didn’t). Now it does, so that’s something.
