I agree with Harrumph, the Wii’s signal is not the best. I’ve believe some Wii titles render internally as 640×480 so you could try reducing H.active and/or changing 480p sampler settings but I doubt it will make a big difference.

480p X 2 Especially without upsample 2x should look pretty sharp, too sharp for most folks. The Mclassic actually blurs the image slightly so would be counter-intuitive for what you are trying to achieve here I think.
