Ok so I tested two different HDMI switches, both of which do not cause the OSSC backlight to blink. NEWCARE HDMI Switch 3 in 1 Out from amazon and RadioShack 1500467 from ebay are both working fine.
My advice is to avoid the Techole HDMI switch and any switch that uses a similar design that could use the same generic PCB. Pictures of the Techhole PCB: https://imgur.com/a/CHSrIxM
