Not sure what you mean by general firmware, but I understood both your original remote and ossc are from elsewhere. In that case it might be that they are configured for different IR codes. Green light blinking just means OSSC detects a NEC format IR keycode (which is not necessarily mapped to any function).
You can still copy codes into the new remote as it’s a learning remote, or re-bind OSSC for the new remote in case your original gets lost.
