I’ve had a look at the new store page for the CPS2 Digital AV board and it says that the volume key now swaps resolution and it can go up to 1200p, but it doesn’t look like there has been a new firmware release in a while.

If we order a new CPS2 Digital AV board does it come with firmware capable of 1200p?
Will we see a firmware release soon for the last batch of boards to allow 1200p?

Edit: Just saw the “(coming soon in a firmware update)” caveat on the store page. Nevermind.

Yes, the additional resolution options are on TODO list. Basically the prequisites (like OSD and clock generator driver) are already done on my other projects but just need to be integrated on cps2_digiav. The resolution options should include CRT-friendly 240p and 480p, 1280×720, 1280×960, 1920×1080, 1920×1200 and 1920×1440.

How does one update the firmware? I’ve installed the one undamned sold me and I believe it’s 2.1. Works great, but want to use a 4:3 monitor.

Firmware can be updated using a JTAG programmer device, but there’s currently no new firmware released.

A new Rev2 firmware has been uploaded to github which now allows testing different resolutions with vol-/+ keys:

240p_CRT (for 15kHz CRTs and capture)
                480p_CRT (for 31kHz CRTs)
                720p (CEA)
                1080p (CEA, vertical 4x)
                1080p (CEA, vertical 5x) [default]
                1920×1200 (CVT-RB)
                1920×1440 (CVT-RB)
