      Hello guys,
I got the OSSC v1.6 about few days ago.

I have question about the best quality setting for the most PS2 480i games. I have UHD TV and PS2 5×000, and a cable is a RGB SCART.

The Line2x(bob) and Line3x(Laced) modes in 240p PS2 game are totally impressive and awesome, but the modes are not effective in 480i PS2 games. My favorite games are only running in 480i mode… I would say that the passthrough in 480i and display deintereracing is the best quality. Could you recommend better option in 480i resolution? I really love the 240p & Line3x mode.

      Thank you for reading.

        Agreed.
It’s probable that deinterlacing by other processors like DVDO or Crystalio is better and faster, but I couldn’t say because I never used one. Unless you are bothered by input lag, it’s not worth the investment imo.

These are deinterlacing modes and only affect 480i/576i content.

If your priority is low input lag, use the OSSCs deinterlacing modes. If your priority is picture quality, use the passthrough function and let your TV, or secondary processor do the deinterlacing.

            Thank you for replies.

It is shame that I didn’t research this problem before I purchased an OSSC. I hope the OSSC will include a quality mode for interlaced resolution. (It may need an additional hardware chip.)

I found that a ‘GS mode selector’ can add a native 240p/480p output resolution for the 480i PS2 games. It might be a solution for my problem.

            Thank you again guys.

The GS mode selector I tested was bad… At least it doesn’t flickering, but the image quality is still worse than a display deinterlacing mode.

GS mode selector must be tried on a case by case basis, it will not look good in all games.
