      Hi,

I recently bought a OSSC scaler and connected it to my Commodore 64.

I get this terrible greyscale picture with a messy pattern as a background which is supposed to be blue.

I connected a differte old computer (a MSX 2+) and I got exactly the same result.

Is this a matter of settings? Any suggestions?

      Firmware 0.78a

      AV2 : YPbPr 311p 15.63 kHz 50.27Hz

That all looks OK (I guess).

Hope someone can help me out.

      regards,

      N.

As I understand it, the C64 supports S-Video at best (and the early ones only supported composite at best); so, unless your C64 has been modified to output RGB (I’m not aware of any YPbPr/component video mods), you won’t be able to properly use it with the OSSC.

The MSX 2+, on the other hand, looks like it natively supports RGB, so you would be able to use that if you had an appropriate cable. (I’m assuming you have it hooked up via composite if you’re reporting that it exhibits the same behavior as the C64.)

That’s correct, C64 only supports S-Video at best.

I’ve even got a Composite to RGB converter and the OSSC doesn’t like that most of the time. it seem the refresh rate is all over the place.

A lot of them don’t properly support 240p.
