I’ve just PM’d Marqs on shumps, cos I’m crap at waiting I thought I’d put the question up here and see if there is any advice from the community.

So far I’ve ordered and received all the parts except for two of the three ICs that are only available from AliExpress. Will most likely start putting this together over the weekend.

Anyone know how to get the firmware onto the chips? I have no idea but am willing to track down whatever service provider or equipment is necessary.

      Thanks 🙂

Here’s the answer from Marqs, sounds simple enough….. 🙂

Firmware can be updated after assembly on a blank chip via JTAG, using Altera USB blaster programmer. Once a firmware is burned on the chip, it is possible to update normally via SD card.

        Thanks to Marqs!

For anyone that doesn’t know how awesome the OSSC wiki is, you should use that for a guide on updating the firmware via JTAG:

The only problem I had was with getting the drivers installed for the USB blaster. Once the drivers were installed, everything else was smooth sailing.
