      Hi guys,

I have been considering a new TV for my game room, this TV will be used almost exclusively for retro gaming as newer games are played in the living room instead. Basically I have a fairly basic 43″ 4k led TV and I don’t plan to go ‘much’ bigger than that size. I am just wondering if you think that upgrading to a more expensive and premium TV (most likely with full array local dimming) would even make much of a difference in image quality (colour quality, black levels, motion etc) I usually play 2d games with scanlines on currently.

Also do you think that a monitor would give as good of a quality than a TV in game mode could give, I have seen that there exists some 43″ monitors which would obviously give a much higher response time than a TV but I would want to ensure that the picture quality would at least be an upgrade from my current set.

None of this may even matter due to the limited amount of colours used in these games anyway. I could just be overthinking this as it’s not that my current display is bad or anything I just like to upgrade haha.

This MLiG video may provide some useful information, if you haven’t already seen it.

While I have no regrets about my TCL 49s405, with its low lag and excellent compatibility with all things that I throw at it, there is no denying that the OLED samples shown in the video are absolutely stunning. After looking that, colors on my TCL are frankly a bit flat. But again, for $300, I’ve got no complaints.

Hope that helps, just some food for your thoughts.
