Pack-a-punch is a brand name used by RetroGamingCables to refer to their higher-end cabling; it is not itself a Dreamcast AV cable.
it should be a safe assumption he’s using a straight SCART cable
Actually I just asked him in comments and he said he was using Toro->SCART
Adam also said that his Dreamcast looked the worst he’d ever seen when he ran it through and OSSC, 99% of people get awesome results with Dreamcast and OSSC so I wouldn’t necessary trust every analysis he comes up with.

Maybe you could help me with the Elgato question… noone else is paying attention 🙁 Will OSSC work with Elgato HD60S? I’ve heard it does work with HD60 but a guy from another thread have some issues with the S model. The only thing I know is that Elgato requires an unencrypted HDMI signal whatever that means 😀
I’ve not tried it but OSSC does not use HDCP at all.
Using something like a Toro just allows you to run 480p via SCART rather than VGA… It’s really that simple. There’s no real quality difference (as long as the quality of your VGA/SCART cables are comparable) and the main benefits come down to:
1.) If, like me, you’re using a GSCARTSW it allows you to add the Dreamcast into the mix and make use of the GSCART’s secondary output (for a capture card, second monitor or whatever)
2.) The SCART (AV1) port on the OSSC has low pass filters available that aren’t there on the VGA (AV3) input… In case you need to clean up the image and/or sync a little bit.
3.) There are a small number of games that don’t support VGA (480p) and a few that don’t (for whatever reason) support RGB. In this case you just have to flip a switch rather than unplug cables etc.
That’s basically it. You can get a basic Dreamcast VGA (+audio RCA) cable and plug it straight into the OSSC – it’ll work fine
for a capture card
What capture card would you recommend for playing from laptop monitor? At first, I was thinking about Elgato HD60S because their ‘Instant Gameview’ feature gives you almost zero input lag in the preview window. But apparently, this capture card doesn’t support 640×480 resolution, only 720×480… I guess using generic VGA to HDMI scalers would give me a stretched 1080p image in the preview window which is not cool. And I’m not sure if OSSC can convert 640×480 to 720×480 or something…
Dreamcast is 720×480, only retro PCs used 640×480.

I’ve seen some people claiming it’s a common myth. Even Beharbros support said that Elgato wouldn’t work with Toro/Akura directly because of the resolution…
