Hello, I’m new to the board and reaching out for some help.
I came across a DVDO VP30 and had read that it could be used for scaling up video for game consoles on LCDs. I was able to update it to the latest firmware.
My issue is I’m getting some strange artifacts when I use the HDMI output, but I don’t have any issues with the analog output.
Here are some examples:

I had read on the boards that there are know issues with the VP30 (such as the power supply), but it seems to be only when HDMI output is in use. Has anyone seen this before, and if so know how to fix it? I’m hoping for something like a known bad voltage regulator or capacitor I can replace.

Looks like either the HDMI output is faulty or your monitor doesn’t like it.
You won’t get very good results with the VP3o anyway, it’s terribly dated now and wasn’t particularly well loved for 240p scaling even back in the day. Most people that had them chained a XRGB3 or OSSC through it to get around its heavy ringing of 240p material.
I tried it on two different TVs and had artifacts on both. What do you think about the VP30 vs a GBS-C? I don’t have any experience with a GBS based scaler, but also have a limited budget. My primary use case is scaling up Game Consoles for usage on a 720p/1080p LCD.
BuckoA51, I saw that you guys have refurbished OSSCs sometimes for sale. Do those come in very often? You were right my use case is primarily 240p consoles.
I’d say you’d get much better results on the GBS-C with custom firmware.
We have refurbished ones in from time to time but they go quickly.
