My first question is what is the exact reason OSSC has to be in DVI mode for a visible picture on DVI displays? My other devices including PS4 and PC with HDMI out work fine with my DVI displays.
I’m being really cautious about going through with installing the MakeMhx XboxHD+ HDMI mod for my original Xbox because if the mod has the same problem with DVI displays as the OSSC, I’m just not going to install it because a lot of my gaming is going to be on my Sony Trinitron 1080i DVI.
Usually it makes no difference, but as I understand it, many DVI devices cannot process audio so the presence of the audio packets may confuse some displays.
I’ve never had a problem with HDMI sources with audio not showing up on my DVI displays. My PS4 can be set to audio over HDMI and I still get a picture. I also have the OSSC with the non-audio firmware.
DVI signal does not carry AVI infoframes or audio. Some sources detect whether display is HDMI capable and fall back to DVI if not. OSSC requires user to explicitly set TX mode.
