So I was redoing the wiring on a controller mod for my Game Gear (swapping in finer-gauge wire so it fits in the case better), and I unfortunately managed to cook one of the SMD caps for a d-pad direction; one of the terminals just separated off the rest of its cap. Specifically, I lost C34 on the 1-ASIC board.

Problem is, the caps are so small they’re not marked, and I can’t find any info around on what the values are. Everything I’ve found online is just about what to use when recapping the electrolytic ones. Does anyone have any info on what values are used for the SMD caps on a Game Gear?

Just to follow up, after some further searching I was able to find a Game Gear service manual: https://gamesx.com/wiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=schematics:service_manual_-_game_gear_va1.pdf.

The value for C34 is 2200 pF, and with a replacement in place everything’s looking good!
