      Hey all.

My OSSC 1.6 audio was working fine for quite some time but now it seems to be incredibly quiet.

I haven’t made any firmware changes recently and it’s been on the most recent version. The only thing I did was plug a composite cable into the green component input to get a basic picture from an NES I just used on a normal TV moments before. The display on the OSSC started showing all kinds of crazy symbols and garbage rapidly changing. After turning it off, then back on the video output seemed fine but the audio volume for HDMI + A1 has been reduced by about 80%.

Also, it seems that when I plug the A1 output into my stereo amp it only plays sound on the right channel. Could this maybe be a hardware failure? If so, any ideas on which components I could experiment with replacing to see if I can restore the volume?

      Some troubleshooting I did:
      1. I checked the switch for the A1 out to make sure it was in the correct position.

      2. Checked the audio gain in the settings and it was at default.

      3. Reset profiles to default.

      4. Tried a few other firmware versions before going back to the most recent.

      5. Replaced all cables with different ones including AC adapter.

      6. Bought a new OSSC and hooked it up to the original cables I used and everything sounds fine.

Everything seems to point to it being that my OSSC has a problem, especially since the new one I bought seems to work just fine.

If anybody has any ideas, please let me know as I really would like to fix this.

      Thank you!

Do you mean the analogue audio output? That’s simply a pass through so that should always work unless there is a short on the SCART connector.

I swear I thought my reply to you went through. Weird.

Anyway, yes the analogue output and the HDMI output both have massively reduced volume levels. The analogue also only outputs to the right speakers. The HDMI might as well, but it was hard to tell because it was so quiet.

Do you think it could be the scart connector on the OSSC itself is maybe loose and has weak solder joints?

When I attempt to move the scart connector it feels like it is firmly in place.

Also, I have tried this using different scart cables and consoles and it is the same for all of them.

Thank you again for your help Bucko. Always appreciate your efforts!

That would be covered under warranty so if you got the unit from us please get in touch so we can sort something out.
