Good evening,
I didn’t know the best place to post. Just wondering about the Koryuu. Just wondering how work on the project is going and if there was a timeline on when it would be available to sign up for a email wait list?
I’m excited that there will finally be a great option to transcode from composite/s-video to component. I don’t want to mod any of my composite/s-video systems and it gives me the ability to upscale them with the ossc without mods. Thanks for filling this gap in the retro market! I appreciate all the great work you guys do!!!
Thanks,
Frosty
Work is progressing behind the scenes, I had intended to write a press release and an update by now but there’s still a ton of stuff to sort what with the move and everything so that got delayed.
Things are definitely progressing though, we want to make sure we launch when we’re ready given that we had a few disappointments and returns with RetroTINK especially regarding PAL systems.
Sorry to pester you for info, but I’m curious if you plan on supporting 480i output. I’m trying to get 240p composite out from game consoles into an LZX modular video synthesizer, and so far I don’t think there’s any devices that do exactly 240p -> 480i, which the synthesizer requires. Thanks!
No, the device won’t do 240p to 480i conversion. That’s a niche of a niche if ever there was one. I think you would be best of line doubling it first then re-interlacing it via some kind of Extron downscaler.
Sorry for the late response, new house build is eating up all my spare time.
Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I’m glad to hear that things are progressing. Like most retro gamers serious about video quallity, I’m a patient being.
I’ve had issues trying to figure out how to convert composite/s-video to an acceptable signal for the ossc since starting my setup. I was so excited to hear that this gap was being addressed in a cost effective manner. Thanks for all the great work and I look forward to testing your work!
Thanks,
Frosty
This is probably weird, but will the Koryuu support composite-over-S-Video (CVBS on Y)? Meaning, if you end up with a badly-wired combo composite/S-Video cable, or you purposefully wire composite to Y to allow use of an automatic CVBS/YC switcher without having to toggle input on the Koryuu, will it decode color from Y, or will it just output in black-and-white (Like with my Kramer FC-4044 and Extron IN1508)?
No I don’t believe that will work sorry.
Quick question: will PAL be supported on Koryuu?
Of course!
Hi there, do you have an update on this already? Would love to use the device for hooking up my unmodded N64 to my OSSC. Thx
