hello. i’ve received the OSSC two days ago, tried with various consoles and i’m very happy with it. i’ve initially tried it with PS2, dreamcast, saturn and wii. all fine.
yesterday i’ve tried it with my japanese PSONE (non-modded SCPH-100) and unfortunately it doesn’t work (AV1 NOSYNC). i can hear the playstation chime, but i see only the test pattern (with or without a game disk inserted).
i’m using the same rgb scart that i use with my PS2 slim (PAL modded SCPH-90004). the same cable works if i connect the PS2 to the OSSC, and also works if i connect the PSONE to my CRT TV.
i’ve read the wiki and tried changing various settings with no luck.
any ideas?November 17, 2016 at 2:43 PM #9656Strange, PS1 console is working for me. Have you tried playing with the Hsync tolerance values?
November 17, 2016 at 2:53 PM #9661yes. already tried that.
anyway, i don’t think that all the ps1 are the same. mine is a japanese psone (the super tiny model).
later today i’m going to try using a component cable. theoretically the psone should output RGsB through a component cable right?November 17, 2016 at 2:54 PM #9662No, only PS2 does that and then only in 480p mode.
November 17, 2016 at 6:07 PM #9664you’re unfortunately right. it doesn’t work. i guess that i should continue to use my crt. at least with the psone
November 17, 2016 at 10:10 PM #9666Does that RGB cable have standard wiring or something special? I don’t see any reason why SCPH-100 sync signal would be that different.
November 17, 2016 at 11:51 PM #9672i don’t really know. i just bought this cable on the web some years ago.
November 18, 2016 at 12:29 AM #9674ohh. i found it. the cable i bought is this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000IV1OHE/
November 19, 2016 at 12:27 AM #9721Ok, I guess there’s nothing wrong in the cable. Actually this case could be reminiscent to Neo-Geo, where a certain model really had different sync signal. That was fixed by first setting H-PLL pre and post coast to 3, and then increasing “Hsync tolerance” to around 10us or even higher, so you could try the same.
November 19, 2016 at 4:38 PM #9732I’ve tried, but it doesn’t work even if i set hsync tolerance up to the max value.
November 19, 2016 at 5:27 PM #9733Does it sync on AV2 when you connect a composite video cable to the green component input?
November 19, 2016 at 5:36 PM #9734i should find a composite video cable for playstation first. i’ve never actually used one, but there should be at least one in some box somewhere.
November 20, 2016 at 10:06 AM #9748ok. tried. still nosync, but there was some reaction sometimes. composite video cable to green component input, H-PLL pre and post coast to 3, “Hsync tolerance” to 10us or 10.15us. sometimes the test pattern go away and the red led on the ossc turn on… still nosync. but it happened only 2/3 times… most of the times the ossc doesn’t react at all.
November 20, 2016 at 10:41 AM #9751That indicates there’s some irregularity in sync signal, but without examining it with oscilloscope it’s quite hard to guess what exactly is wrong and how it might be fixed.
November 20, 2016 at 11:19 AM #9754ok. thanks. i’ve bought the ossc mostly for the ps2 and dreamcast anyway.
