Hello, I’ve been using the OSSC for quite some time and I never really had any issues with any of the systems I throw at it.
However, started to collect some arcade PCBs lately and I noticed that the OSSC is struggling when it comes to Capcom CPS2 boards.
The arcade PCB goes to a supergun with RGB output and from there I connect it via SCART to the OSSC.
Even though I have no issues with Neo Geo MVS boards, Namco boards and Atomiswave games, most of the CPS2 games I try keep going to a black screen for some milliseconds. It’s not consistent, it happens A LOT with some games, way less with others, but as far as I remember, all 9 CPS2 games I own do behave like this one way or another. Sometimes it makes some fighting games almost impossible to play. I’ve recorded a video showing some seconds of Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, notice how annoying it gets:
I’m using Firebrandx’s default profile since I didn’t find a dedicated profile for arcade PCBs so I guess it’s some kind of sync issue. Unfortunately, I don’t have the required knowledge to tweak OSSCs setting in order to make it work.
Is there any arcade and/or Capcom CPS2 profile available somewhere? Or at least some hint on what should I try to change coming from the default profile to make this more playable?
@BuckoA51 I use a model that’s enclosed in a Neo Geo case and then there’s an extension cord that goes from there to the part with the jamma connector itself. I haven’t found a better picture but that’s how it is:
@marqs Hello! Sorry about the late reply, I was waiting for sunday so I could do some proper testing.
The label under the OSSC itself says “model 1.7” and I have been using firmware 0.9
I did the hardware mod so I could try the V1.xx series firmware a while ago and that disables the red light, right? Anyway, the remaining green light stays solid all the time, it doesn’t change during the blackouts.
The mod disables red led, but on V1.xx the same information is encoded in green LED. On sync options you could try adjusting analog sync Vth and/or ADC PLL BW (latter only available on v1.11).
