      Hi,

I’m wondering if OSSC supports only a few, many or all (S)VGA resolutions? Does it allow to convert these to a target resolution – say, 1080p – with some aspect ratio settings/correction? There is very little documentation (or I can not find it) over the supported input (S)VGA resolutions and timings.

The problem is that (analog) VGA input is also becoming rare in displays (in addition to pal/ntsc RGB signals), and even if there is a VGA input in a device, it might not handle it properly.

Optimally, I’m looking for a device which can accept any (or at least most) resolutions a PC SVGA card can output, and convert it to HDMI, with options to convert the output resolution to a displays native resolution (1080p) *with* aspect ratio fixing, to work around stupid displays which have sub-optimal options built-in. I take it OSSC can not do this – it’s designed primarily for pal/ntsc and lower resolution signals?

      Cheers!

P.s. My current projector does a very poor job for 4:3 resolutions over the HDMI input, and stretches everything to 16:9 *and* disables all aspect ratio options! It still does allow adjusting aspect ratio for any analog signal – which means, I can not use a digital output on a PC for non-16:9 resolutions, despite having a display adapter with this output. It seems it only allows to adjust aspect ratio for HDMI signals if they are 720p/i or 1080p/i, but for anything else over the HDMI, they will be stretched to 16:9 (despite being 4:3)!

So in this case, the analog conversion of the device is actually quite good, the problem is in how it handles HDMI signals. I’m looking something to future-proof retro-PC usage, in case my projector dies.

OSSC supports all input resolutions up to around 1080p. OSSC Classic is a line multiplier only and cannot scale how you describe. Anything past 480p is digitised only, no scaling applied.

Hi BuckoA51 – thanks for your reply!

Do you know if the upcoming OSSC Pro will have this kind of scaling support, and if yes, how extensively it’s going to support different resolutions and refresh rates?
