Hmm I see. Well i’m connecting up a 1080p display to it, so 800×600 or 1024×768 pass-through wouldn’t scale well on it, unless i’ve misunderstood you.
The settings above for 320×200 put the resulting image in a nice 4:3 box with correct borders on my 1080p display – I guess I was looking for the same effect in 800×600 and 1024×768 or is this not possible?
If your display is a TV or not a bottom-end PC monitor, then you should have some aspect ratio controls; just configure your display to show the image as 4:3.
If your display doesn’t have aspect ratio controls, then your options are limited. The OSSC cannot scale (line multiplication only) and does not have wide support for windowboxing, so, if this is the case, you would need an additional video processor between the OSSC and your display to force a 4:3 aspect ratio.
I guess where my confusion comes in is when connecting my PC to my monitor without using the OSSC (the same monitor mentioned here when using the OSSC), I don’t get near the same image fidelity or proper aspect ratio (top and bottom borders). So I thought the OSSC is doing some form of image manipulation, and was then curious how to manipulate that further with 800 or 1024.
Is there a guide as to exactly what each of these settings do? Wondering if I can “tweak” these further to attempt higher res:
