When playing PSX games on the PS2, the console’s dot clock is set to 54MHz (108 MHz in progressive mode) giving 3,432 dots per line at ~60 Hz and 3,456 dots per line at ~50 Hz. This is a bit higher than the dot clock on the original PSX, meaning the optimized modes must be adjusted to match.
While adjusting the modes is doable, it requires calculating the respective fractional rate for each mode and adjusting them independently. Having them available as existing presets (e.g. PS2 320x240p, PS2 512x288p, etc.) would make life easier for a lot of users. 🙂
