I’ve got an OSSC Pro with 0.77 firmware and the Legacy AV Input card.
If I power on the OSSC Pro and change to either the Composite, or SVideo Ext input, then the default test pattern doesn’t appear initially.
If I switch to an Ext input with an active device connected (e.g. NES on CVBS and/or PC Engine on Y/C), then it will display the expected Sync details for the device on that input (SVideo/Composite), but will output nothing.
If I then select any native input (AV1/2/3) with an active device on it, that device will however display as expected.
After that, changing back to the relevant Ext input will work as expected, either a test pattern with no input, or the expected input device being displayed as per the Sync details on the OLED, and everything works perfectly from that point on.
Switching to an AV input with no active device and then back to an Ext input doesn’t result in any change of behaviour.
Is anyone else able to test this and confirm that it’s “just me” and I’ll just have to live with this? If it can be replicated then I can log an issue on the Github for the firmware page as judging by the behaviour, it doesn’t feel like a hardware issue.
I’m reasonably confident that it worked as expected when I first got it, so I may have found some accidental combination of firmware settings that result in this behaviour.
Thanks.
December 11, 2024 at 10:31 AM #64375I’m not able to replicate this. Here’s what I found.
Power on OSSC Pro (but no connected devices), switch to S-video or composite in – The colour bar test pattern is not shown, just a black screen is, however..
Power on composite video device – works fine.
Now, if I power on composite device first, then, power on OSSC pro and go to composite in, again, that works fine.
I never had to go to another active input to get an image to display.
So other than the test pattern not being displayed initially I’m not able to replicate your problem.
What mode do you have the device in (line multiplier, pure LM or scaler) ?

December 12, 2024 at 3:42 AM #64391Thanks for trying it. I’ve tried cycling through all 3 modes, makes no difference.
I did a settings reset, that didn’t help either. I also tried a different monitor via direct HDMI connection, that behaved the same way as well, so looks like it’s a pecularity of my unit.
What I’ve done as a workaround is set the startup mode to the Test Pattern, looks like that’s enough to kick things into life as that will display automatically at startup, and if I switch to composite at that stage then it works straight away. I’m ok living with that.
December 13, 2024 at 1:23 PM #64405Ah ok, I would always have my unit on test pattern initially. You’re saying this only occurs if that’s /not/ the case?

Yeah, I had the default input set to AV4 (I forget why as I’m not currently using that anyway), and that’s when I get the “no output” behaviour, as I now have it with it defaulting to the TP output, it’s working just fine.
January 11, 2025 at 6:05 PM #64675The issue is now fixed and cvbs/s-video/rf inputs should display output regardless of initial/previous source.
