      Update instructions

Note: The following settings have been updated, thus their changes saved using previous firmware versions are not loaded from existing profiles:

      * HDMI RX & TX options (due to added EDID and Full TX setup option)
      * Lumacode (due to added new presets)
      * Framelock (due to separation of FL multiplier)
      * BFI (due to updated functionality)

Updated mine, Same thing happened as with v0.78 update, when the update finishes the OSSC Pro goes lights out and does not respond to the remote. if you remove power for a few seconds and plug it back in, the standby light comes on and it works fine, shows V0.79

Does the same happen if you update again from 0.79 to 0.79?

                From wiki:

Error -9: CRC error while checking the data copied to DRAM. Change to test pattern or restart the device, and try again.

When I launch Genesis Plus on the Wii Homebrew Channel, I lose video signal in both pure and adaptive modes. There’s no video, and video only works in scaler mode. Then, when I restart the device, pure and adaptive modes work again. It’s annoying having to keep restarting the device. This bug started after update 0.79. My OSSC PRO model is black without the gold lettering. The Wii is connected using the official Nintendo component cable. Apologies for my poor English; I used Google Translate. Thanks.

                    Hey Marqs,

I’m having an issue with the new 0.79 OSSC Pro update. It installs but stays on the Test Pattern and won’t get off it. Even if my system is turned on to AV1. It’s locked to Test Pattern. I tried re downloading it and reinstalled the update 5 times. Same outcome. So I went back to 0.78 and it my ossc pro works perfect with 0.78. Just thought you should know.

Will need to investigate if I can reproduce this. It doesn’t sound like the issue is related to display, but you could still try the new “Full TX setup” compatibility option in output menu which was added for monitors which lose picture/sound permanently upon too quick change of mode.

It sounds similar to an issue which occurred on a prototype board, but should not happen on the production board especially if the info screen shows Aug 11 date code for the fw and you don’t have anything plugged into USB port.

                        Same problem with Full TX.

Apparently it’s the problem of changing from 480p (2x pure) to 240p (3x pure). After restarting the ossc pro, it goes back to normal. It doesn’t always happen, but when it does I have to turn off the device. The SNES and NES emulators work normally with 240p(3X pure mode), only this Genesis Plux GX has this problem. It has sound, but no video signal. The scaler mode have no issues.

Yeah, no USB in the USB Port, and I got the update straight off your 0.79 Firmware Link at the top of the page. I tried installing the update again today and still it does the same thing. Locking the video in TP Mode and not allowing me to switch video. So I went back to 0.78, which works perfect.

I return the firmware to 0.78 and now OSSC PRO works fine for everthing.

Windows 98 (DVI-HDMI) is working great with the new update, even when booting on BIOS, something that it has never done before, probably because of the new frequency. However, I’ve realized that it crashes a few times whenever I am trying to change some options, like Output opt. The OSSC Pro completely freezes. Either by pressing its buttons or using the controller, nothing changes, despite the latter showing feedback on the green LED. I have to remove the DC plug for it to work again. This freeze did not occur to me before, at least when changing N64 settings (SCART).

I wonder if the improved retro PC compatibility is due to updated EDID or tweak for HDMI receiver which enables modes with very high horizontal blanking. Worryingly there are reports for some units having random issues like above. I can only guess they are related to larger soft-CPU upgrade in 0.79 but not being able to reproduce them with my boards makes it very hard to debug.

Is there anything we can do to help with debugs? I had a feeling that you did not manage to reach this during testing.

I am not sure if that helps, but my unit was shipped 06/25/25, and the date of manufacturing is 08/2024.
