I’ve also been having issues with the OSSC Pro and the PS3 and 360. In the case of my PS3, I can’t get it to work on the pro at all over hdmi. I’ve toggled every resolution possible on the console, all color range options, directly wired it to the pro and tried switch boxes, and nothing. It sees the 67k hz signal and the resolution according to the ossc’s display, but the screen’s black no matter what I’ve tried. Has anyone else run into this? It’s a standard Japanese PS3 slim, no mods or anything. The only thing I haven’t tried is running the ps3 to the ossc using component, but that feels a bit redundant.
For the 360, it only seems to work at 720p and under. It’s also a slim, the R2D2 model, also unmodified. At 1080p, it flickers like mad, as if there’s a sync issue, but it works perfectly fine at 720. Like the PS3, I’ve tried directly wiring it, going through my switch boxes, etc. and it just plain wouldn’t work.
Has anyone else run into these issues? Is there a setting fix or a firmware issue?
November 23, 2023 at 8:29 AM #59036Do you have a HDCP stripper for the PS3? 1080p via HDMI was tested on factory for each board so there should be no stability issues. Can you temporalily set AV4 opt -> pixel de-repetition to 2 to see if the issue is on RX side or from the HDMI chip onwards?
November 23, 2023 at 9:57 PM #59047I didn’t know about the HDCP thing until someone got back to me on facebook about it, so I ordered a device that should be able to do that for the ps3. For the 360, I set the pixel de-repetition to 2 and it made the image all pixelated and low res looking despite still being 720p. 1080 still doesn’t work. This is going from the ossc to the avr, an onkyo tx-nr6100, because for some reason I can’t get any sound from the ossc directly connected to the tv (LG C1 oled). I tried connecting the ossc back to the tv just to see, and the tv just kept saying ‘invalid format’ when trying to do 1080p, regardless of the pixel de-repetition setting
November 24, 2023 at 12:22 AM #59054The audio issue with C1 might be related to the conflict between HDR infoframe. So basically none of your HDMI sources work in 1080p mode regardless whether Pro is directly connected to TV or via avr? That starts to sound like a faulty board but let me think if there is anything else that could be tested.
November 24, 2023 at 2:52 AM #59057Yeah, no audio directly from the ossc to the tv, regardless of the hdr toggle being on or off. The switch and wii u are working just fine through the pro, at 1080p. It’s just the 360 that isn’t. When the hdcp stripper arrives, I can check on the ps3 and let you know, but the nintendo stuff is working fine through the pro. Nothing has direct audio at all though, I only get sound from the pro running directly into my avr, no matter the source. Scart, component, or hdmi.
November 24, 2023 at 8:51 PM #59115I can confirm that connecting the OSSC Pro directly to the LG C9 also produces no sound. Dropping an OSSC Classic into its place in exactly the same signal chain and the TV is able to process and play back the sound just fine.
OSSCP sound also didn’t work when I chained it through my PixelFX Morph beta test unit. This was all with HDR off so it looks like maybe there are still some issues with the HDMI audio on the pro.
November 24, 2023 at 8:56 PM #59116That is likely a regression in 0.69 where HDR was introduced and enough testing was not done (my displays e.g. accept invalid Infoframe checksum so I don’t notice easily if something like that is broken).
November 24, 2023 at 9:36 PM #59126I too had no sound on my LG B9 with an LG Soundbar. Curiously it starts to work if I just toggle the sample rate in the audio options on the OSSC Pro (with HDR off). Might be worth a shot, but maybe it’s something unrelated, I don’t know. 🙂
November 25, 2023 at 1:42 PM #59136This appears to have been fixed in firmware 0.70 which should be released soon.
November 27, 2023 at 7:33 PM #59177Yeah, I also upgraded from the ossc classic (first edition, with only dvi out lol). In that setup I ran audio separately though to an avr, so with the pro i was like ‘ohey, i can do audio now’ and my tv was like NOPE lol
November 28, 2023 at 6:39 AM #591850.70 update: it fixed my audio problem with hdr, but I don’t have the chance to test direct-to-tv audio quite yet. 1080p on my 360 still doesn’t work.
I bought a cheap hdcp stripper off amazon and that solved the problem with my ps3! Looks glorious in hdr. This is the one I bought, so if anyone else comes across this problem, I CAN confirm that this one works for the ps3: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TZRXKYG
On a hunch, I tried running the 360 through the stripper and it didn’t give me any picture at all lol. Oh well. 720 ain’t so bad on 360, especially running through the ossc, but I’m pretty stoked the ps3’s working now with that hdcp stripper.
November 30, 2023 at 1:10 PM #59226That’s some quite strange behaviour from your 360 there, as there is no reason why it shouldn’t work through the same splitter as the PS3.
PS3 is working in 1080p on your OSSC Pro, correct?
November 30, 2023 at 5:22 PM #59231Can you elaborate the flicker issue with 360? Is the red LED on when in LM mode and/or does the status OSD constantly popup indicating a resolution change?
November 30, 2023 at 10:37 PM #59234Here, I made a video to show you. Sometimes when trying, the screen will flicker, but usually it stays blank. This is all in pure line mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAyz96QmUPk
November 30, 2023 at 10:41 PM #59235After getting the hdcp stripper, yeah, it’s working at 1080 just fine. I even tried the 360 through the stripper and got nothing at any res lol
