When I connect my PS4 to the OSSC Pro via HDMI the audio cuts out ever few seconds and when I can heard the audio it very crunchy sounding like the audio is clipping and I don’t have these issue when connecting my PC via HDMI to the OSSC Pro… I have the PS4 set to output LPCM audio… also the ossc_pro_0.74_audiofix.bin test firmware didn’t resolve the audio issues as it didn’t fix the audio cutting out on my ps4 (the the test firmware from here https://videogameperfection.com/forums/topic/ossc-pro-downscale-strange-issue/ )

Can you try turning off deep colour on the PS4?

Deep color is an option on PS4 but I have it turned off

Do you use a HDCP stripper or have you disabled HDCP from PS4 options?

I have HDCP turned off on my PS4 already and I don’t have an HDCP stripper right now

Are you using a good quality HDMI cable?

I tried the same cable I’m using for PC and the audio was still cutting out every few seconds so I think I can rule out a bad HDMI cable as the culprit

Could this be because PS4 detects Pro supports LPCM 7.1 and does not provide an option for 2.0 output which your display perhaps would require? At the moment Pro just forwards the multichannel audio stream to the display. It could remove the other channels, but then some sounds would be missing. I suppose a proper fix would be making Pro’s EDID configurable so that sound support could be narrowed to enforce devices like PS4 to fall back into stereo output.

I think it’s the PS4 sending more than 2 channels to the display as when I tell my PC/windows to send more than 2 channels the audio get really crunchy I’m not sure if it cuts out like the PS4 yet though…

So i tested my PC set to output with 7.1ch and it acted the same way with crunchy sound and the audio cutting out so I’m pretty sure it’s the PS4 and OSSC Pro trying output to my 7.1ch LPCM to my TV which only supports 2ch LPCM

So when I connect my PS4 directly to OSSC Pro or to my HDMI switcher (with default settings) then to the OSSC Pro the audio cuts out and the audio becomes crunchy but my HDMI switch has three audio options Auto(default), 2ch and 5.1ch and when I set the switch to 2ch my PS4 the audio no longer cuts out and doesn’t sound chrunchy… So the problems is definitely the PS4 seeing the OSSC Pro as 5.1ch/7.1ch audio output and not being able to change it to 2 ch output in the PS4 settings.

v0.75 now has an option to use custom EDID. Links to some alternative EDIDs will be added on wiki in near future.
