Hi. I have an OSSC v1.6 with v0.89 firmware. The ZX Spectrum has never looked so good as when I hooked up my Omni Desktop via SCART to OSSC today! The only issue is that it’s losing video sync.
Many settings were adjusted until I realised that I probably have a hardware issue. I reset the OSSC back to its original settings, saved and then powered the OSSC off. I let it sit for about 15 minutes then powered the OSSC on. For the first seven minutes everything was perfect and then video sync was lost. The screen goes blank then the picture returns, blank, picture returns, etc. This continues until finally all sync is lost and the picture never returns. If I turn the OSSC off for a while and then power it on, everything is fine again for about seven minutes. Note that the Omni has not been powered off at any point and the game that I loaded has continued to run. Is it possible that as the OSSC temperature increases, the SCART socket tolerances change slightly and cause the Omni SCART cable connector to lose contact?
Fortunately, the loss of sync does not occur at any point when I use the OSSC with an Atari 520ST via SCART. The Omni outputs PAL and the 520ST outputs NTSC. I can’t imagine the PAL signal being the issue though.
Any suggestions? I am reasonably good at soldering, including SMD. Thanks in advance!
