So, when I hooked up the OSSC with my Wii and PS2 (PAL) to my monitor everything worked without any issues. I then tried to hook it up to my TV (Samsung UE40ES6100)  where I plan on mainly using it. The grey test pattern shows up. I connected my Wii via component to the OSSC, everything works fine. I then connected my PS2, also with component, and as soon as I switch to yPbPr the TV displays a black screen following the message (translated from german): “Resolution not supported. Please change the resolution of the connected external drive.” I tried switching the output options for each of the resolutions to 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and putting the OSSC into passthrough mode. Nothing works.

I’m defeated and I do not know what else to do so I’m hoping someone here has some tips or a solution.

Quite strange that neither pass through nor bob deinterlace would work with your TV, OSSC and PS2, are you sure you are changing the 480i output options? You can’t go all the way up to 5x with 480i content.

Oh, yes. I switched between passthrough until line4x(bob) with the 480i option and none work.

Very strange for pass through not to work but unfortunately I don’t see what else there is you can do at this stage. Check for a firmware update for the TV and ask the manufacturer but they probably won’t be a lot of help.

Is your Wii in 480p mode, and are both consoles PAL? You can try setting Output opt->TX mode to DVI if the TV is really picky about HDMI metadata.

The Wii works fine the PS2 is just giving me issues. Both are PAL and I already tried every HDMI port on the TV. Using the DVI port and setting the TX to DVI didn’t work.

Is the Wii in 480p/576p mode?

Yes, it sounds like difference between consoles is that Wii output is 480p (either directly or 480i linedoubled). PAL PS2 boots into 576i menu which is linedoubled to 576p. No idea why the TV would not support 576p. Perhaps you want to try 50Hz on Wii to rule out there is something else going on with PS2.

                    wii settings
