Quick update: I downgraded to 0.90 and all the problems went away. The Genesis is showing a solid 262p on 0.90 vs a fluctuating 1100p on 1.08.

That indicates the mod was not done correctly.

November 4, 2023 at 10:08 PM #58598Good evening, I have done the mod on my ossc bitfunx, at first everything was correct, after approximately 1 hour I started to hear a noise like a vinyl record in the background, I think it happens when there are low or very loud sounds. Maybe they were there before the mod and I didn’t realize, it seems that it happens when the ossc gets hot, I turned off the snes and the ossc for a moment and it sounded good again for a few minutes, I tried with another snes, master system and it can be heard the same noise. Has this happened to anyone?
November 5, 2023 at 1:14 PM #58608Hello again, on another TV with another HDMI and another transformer I have not had audio noise after 2 hours, I have observed that I lose synchronization from SNES to OSSC many times with 1.08, with 0.90 and previous ones it never lost synchronization from snes to ossc, from ossc to tv it did lose it because of the tv.
November 5, 2023 at 7:38 PM #58616I’ve modded my OSSC 1.6 and updated the firmware to 1.08 with the binary file and now i don’t have HDMI audio with Line 5x or Line 6x mode
No problem with Line 1-4 mode, audio is working
I’ve tried with another HDMI cable ( 8K certified one ) , and it’s the same.
Is it a known issue ?
I’ve imported my 0.9 profiles to the generator and converted them to 1.07 version and reinjected in the OSSC. Could it be the problem ?
EDIT : Seems only related to 262p mode with Supernes, Saturn in 5X or 6X has audio

November 6, 2023 at 2:01 AM #58620I’ve modded my OSSC 1.6, updated the firm to (1.08) and is working great, I have sound with Line 5 and 6 mode.
I imported firebrandx Optimal timings to the generator.
I love the pvm mask, it looks great on my monitor, thanks marqs for the support over the years!
November 6, 2023 at 6:33 PM #58629Glad to see it works without problem for you, serge85 . Did you try Supernes x5 or x6 successfully with sound too ?
I only have problem with the SNES x5 or 6X with no audio in these modes
November 6, 2023 at 8:11 PM #58630I presume both @lito69 and @Rochabian are using NTSC SNES (or PAL model 60Hz modded) and without the de-jitter mod? SNES has been always problematic due to its inherent jitter, but I’m not sure why v1.xx fw would be less compatible with it.
@lito69 does it still also drop sync to TV without no indication on ossc, or are sync drops now always visible on both with the v1.xx firmware? Which lineX mode and TV you are using?November 7, 2023 at 3:41 PM #58648Yes you’re right marqs, i use a SNES PAL model 60Hz modded without the de-jitter mod. The bizarre thing is that i have stable picture but no sound with x5 & x6 and with x4 i have stable picture with sound. How can sound disappear when changing Line mode, i don’t know. A de-jitter mod can fix audio problem ?
November 7, 2023 at 5:21 PM #58649Yes, my NTSC snes works with hdmi sound and line 5x and 6x using 1.08 firm on a modded ossc 1.6.
I remember that a few years ago, on my asus monitor, snes didn’t output sound via hdmi on 3x or 4x (don’t remember exactly).
But i’ve changed my display and well, it works fine.
November 8, 2023 at 2:38 PM #58678@marqs Yes, I’m using ntsc snes, 0.90 5x 384*320 I think it was, I don’t lose synchronization, I flash to 1.08 and I lose in the same configuration constantly, the ossc green led turns off, in 0.90 the green led never turns off, it’s my tv philips 55pus7605 the one that sometimes loses signal, however on my LG TV it never loses signal in that configuration with 0.90, with 1.08 it does lose the ossc.
My Philips TV is 4K, the LG is 1080, on Philips TV I can use 6x and there are few synchronization losses, on LG I cannot use 6x, so in 1.08 and 0.90 I use 5x with many ossc synchronization losses.
I have done many tests and it is possible that I was wrong about something.
I am happy trying the new fw, I am encouraged to try, I could record a video another day.November 8, 2023 at 8:10 PM #58690@lito69: have you tried adjusting the sync options, especially sync Vth? They should behave the same for both FW, though, so I’m not sure why there would be a difference but it’s worth a try nevertheless.
November 9, 2023 at 3:05 PM #58700@marqs : If i launch a game on my switchless modded PAL SNES in NTSC i have no sound with X6 , but if “switch” to PAL in game, it works with sound at 6X. Weird. I don’t know why i lose sound in NTSC. It’s a pity because X6 is perfect on my TV, no sync lose.

November 9, 2023 at 3:53 PM #58704@Rochabian I’m pretty sure it’s due to the sync jitter which is only present in NES/SNES 240p modes (i.e. not with PAL 288p). If audio with all other 240p sources work fine in 6x mode, I’d recommend getting a de-jitter mod kit for the SNES.
