Hi. I tested the 480p Line3x mode with my PS2, and I have a question. I apologize if my wording is a bit unclear, I hope it makes sense 😅 I noticed that the horizontal scaling is not an integer multiple. In Adv. Timing, h.samplerate and h.active are set to 480p settings x 1.5. Did I understand correctly that the horizontal resolution is multiplied by 2 on output?
July 22, 2024 at 8:55 PM #62564It’s 2x multiplied by HDMI TX chip because having full rate between FPGA and HDMI TX would exceed processing capabilities of former and receive capability of latter.
July 22, 2024 at 10:03 PM #62570Patrick Sestak – I’ll try my VGA cards and see if I see anything similar. Can’t do a Voodoo5 but I can do a Voodoo 2 and a couple of Matrox.
400p mode detection would be great if that’s ever possible. I have two profiles, one for each mode and I always forget to switch to the right one!
July 23, 2024 at 7:51 AM #62577thank you, interesting to know if it is only my System or in General
July 25, 2024 at 12:44 AM #62593Thank you for the awesome support for OSSC. Version 1.11v fixed all the problems I had with 1.10. I no longer experience dropouts on the PS2 via component, nor the strange bug I had with my Saturn. Specifically, in version 1.10, I was having issues with unstable frequency and resolution, with the OSSC display and OSD numbers cycling nonstop. Sorry for the laconic explanation.
July 26, 2024 at 3:30 PM #62614thank you for all the effort on this. have been researching the lumacode and thinking will do this on my 8-bit atari. any thoughts when this will be available for the atari computers?
July 27, 2024 at 12:19 PM #62622Hello, I updated my OSSC to 1.11 (from 1.08) and I have an issue with the HDR flag setting.
Even though it is set to On, it’s disabled until I set the option to Off and then back to On again.
This is happening across all input sources, Component, RGB Scart or VGA. I tried them with a PS2, a SNES and a Dreamcast.
And the bigger problem is that if I get it enabled, it gets disabled whenever there’s a resolution or input change happening.
I tried reflashing the firmware and also doing a Reset Settings option, to no avail.I had no issues at all on 1.08, and nothing has changed in my setup since then.
Any idea what can I try to fix this?July 27, 2024 at 4:42 PM #62626@eadzon64 I get similar (not identical) results to you using 480 Line3x from my Windows 98 PC running at 640×480. I get a few pixels cut from the left and many cut from the right. Looking at the Windows 98 start bar, the clock is cut off completely, to give an idea of the amount cut – I’d estimate around 10% of overall width.
Like you I could not tweak this out in Sampling options. I tried a PC Matrox Mystique, AGP Matrox Millenium G200 and an unknown brand Geforce 2 MX400, all directly connected to OSSC, and also tested going via a Voodoo2 – all with the same result. Windows was set to 640×480 True Colour in all cases.
Even without the cut, the picture quality was better in Line2x mode to my eyes, so I am going to stick to that.
Obviously real DOS mode uses the 400p VGA modes so was unaffected. While I had everything plugged in I couldn’t resist trying the 1600×1200 Line3x Generic mode for 400p and it looked great but the OSSC rebooted a few times during testing – as the wiki says, not guaranteed to work, so YMMV.
July 27, 2024 at 4:49 PM #62627@snk64 While I had everything out for the 480 L3x stuff above I tested your HDR flag issue – I get it as well. I never messed with HDR on earlier firmware revisions so can’t say if it’s new or not. Like you said, if you change resolution (or line output mode) the TV reverts to non-HDR (the OSSC menu still says HDR is on, but you have to toggle it off then on again to get the TV back into HDR mode).
It’s probably worth logging a bug on github for it.
July 27, 2024 at 6:14 PM #62628thank you for testing!
so your results with VGA, Line 3x, 640×480 are comparable with mine
I was a bit high with my numbers, the cutoff was exactly as you described it
maybe Marqs someday has a look at this
by the way, I have problems with the HDR and VRR flags too
when I turn VRR on, with my 2K Monitor switched to Aspect and for example Shadow of the Colossus PS2 progressive with Widescreen turned on, the OSSC goes back to 4:3 aspect. The only odd way to get back to widescreen is then to switch HDR on and off. So these two setting interact with each other!
July 28, 2024 at 10:35 AM #62638The line3x 480p mode uses generic timings which treat 75% of a scanline as active content. Standard 640×480@60Hz uses 80% instead as active so one must adjust Adv. timing to ensure all content gets included (H.samplerate to 1200 and reduction of h.backporch).
As for the HDR persistence issue, one could try enabling “Full TX setup” from compatibility options. This does more thorough mode initialization every time it’s switched.
July 28, 2024 at 3:47 PM #62643thank you @marqs
for helping out!
so a H. Samplerate of 1200 with standard VGA 640×480@60 does the trick
can this be auto detected, and maybe programmed into next firmware?
sorry, but I’m curious about cause of your great work, this little 2K Scaler Device is getting better and better
maybe 480i 6x modes? ok I shut up 🙂 🙂 🙂

July 30, 2024 at 6:29 PM #62681by the way can someone please tell, what would be the correct H. Samplerate for PS2 progressive 640×448 Mode with OSSCs 3x Mode
with the current H.Samplerate of 1227 the Picture is stretched to full 16:9. but there should be some black Bars at both Sides of the Screen, more like 16:10 Aspect.
Sorry for being bit off Topic
August 3, 2024 at 9:53 AM #62721H. Samplerate of 1200 with H. Backporch adjustment does the trick for me with VESA 480p Line3x. 🙂
Regarding HDR persistence – Full TX Setup doesn’t solve this for me, my TV still drops out of HDR mode on resolution change. I don’t use the HDR flag so it’s no issue to me but maybe useful info for someone.
August 10, 2024 at 2:17 AM #62794I have a quick question that I cannot find an answer to. I apologize if this has been covered somewhere but I just can’t find it.
I have the new v1.8 OSSC and have been using it with an Amiga connected to SCART. I have the HDMI going to a PC monitor that does not have speakers. Luckily all I had to do was flip the little switch and I can use the 3.5mm A1 OUT jack to a set of PC speakers which works great.
Now I am connecting a Dreamcast VGA box to the OSSC as well. I figured connecting the VGA to AV3 and the audio out on the VGA box to A3 IN on the OSSC would do the trick.
However, I am assuming the 3.5mm A3 IN jack only passes the audio input to the HDMI out? Because no sound comes out of A1 OUT.
I guess the question is can audio coming in to A3 IN be routed to A1 OUT? And, if not, is it possible to add this to the firmware as an option?
