Apologies in advance if you’re all sick of this question; I’ve scoured the internet for weeks looking for solutions for this and seen tangentially related posts but I haven’t had a definitive answer or solution for this problem.

I bought the OSSC to work with a PAL PS2 Slim. It works perfectly, except that the display intermittently cuts to black for half a second. Sometimes it works for 30+ minutes without incident, sometimes it does this multiple times a minute. I have tried 3 different displays, multiple sets of cables, many different PS1 + PS2 games and 2 PS2 consoles and they all do exactly the same thing.

A lot of the terminology when reading other posts goes over my head but from what I can gather I think the OSSC is losing signal when the PS2 changes resolution(?). The LED display on the machine does change when the cutout happens. There are some consistencies as to when it happens; when starting a game you’re almost guaranteed to get a cutout as the machine transitions from the initial console startup screen to the game itself. Other than that it appears to be random.

This renders most games more or less unplayable. Is this just how it is? Or is there a setup where this doesn’t occur? I appreciate that it’s difficult to answer but I’d love to hear from someone who had this issue and solved it, even if the answer is that I need to buy something new or a different TV or something.

If the game changes resolution then yes you can expect the image to cut out for a second. This normally only happens e.g when a game first starts or goes from title screen to game, but can happen in game e.g going into an inventory.

If it’s happening at random times something else is amiss. Which OSSC do you have and what firmware version?

Thanks for your reply! I have the Kaico Edition OSSC, version v1.8. The firmware version is 1.09a. Would you suggest updating the firmware?

You should upgrade and/or try adjusting Sync Opt -> Analog sync Vth.
