Hello everyone. After a big move to my, I got my OSSC 1.6 (originally purchased from here in 2019) out of the box, plugged it in to test it and bad news: the screen (which also got slightly damaged in the move and would need replacing, fun times…) and the red LED started flashing. I look at the power supply, I fed it 12V from a desk lamp plug, that was in the same box.

I get the right power supply and try again. The screen and LED will flash for a fraction of a second when I turn the unit on, but then it turns dead.

After searching hours on this forum and elsewhere on the internet, I have a general idea of what parts might be broken, and where to source them, but I can’t know for sure, I don’t really know how to properly test everything with a multimeter, and my soldering skills are okay-ish, but rudimentary. I’ve never soldered anything so small.

It’s out of warranty. I broke it myself, through negligence and I’m kicking myself over it. Went 35 years without frying any electronics, and today i had to do it on the 200$ scaler that I loved very much.

But I DID buy it from here, and I’m willing to pay for the repair.

Shipping it to Europe, getting it fixed, and sending it back to me might run me just about the cost of a newer unit.

Is there any reputable repair service closer to my location, even in the USA, that could fix it for me at a price that’s actually worth it, so I won’t have to sell it for parts or trash it?

There’s mobiusstriptechnologies (https://mobiusstriptechnologies.com/product/ossc-in-warranty-repair-service/), but their page says they repair units that are still on warranty only. Hell, I’ve cleaned up my emails since 2019 and I hadn’t made an account when I ordered, so I don’t even have my order number anymore. Maybe I could dig up a credit card or paypal statement…

I’m trying to be mindful of my behavior as a consumer and my finances, so it would be great if anyone had tips or could refer me somewhere!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I’ll be looking forward to your replies!
