I’m very new to OSSC so this is very possibly just a noob thing. I have searched for this issue and not found anything to help yet, so I’m making my own post. I’ve had the OSSC for 3 weeks now and I purchased it from VGP. I just received my PS1 RGB SCART cable from retrogamingcables and the image is purple. I’ve reseated the cables, cleaned the console’s connector (it’s been in storage for many years), but no change. For comparison, my SNES and Dreamcast RGB SCART cables from RGC both work perfectly. Any thoughts? Is the cable bad and if so is there any way I can test that with a multimeter?
Any change in colour if you give the cable a gentle wiggle? It could be a bad cable or a dry joint on your PS1 itself if its been in storage for a while.
Such is the joy of using these vintage electronics!
Wiggling the cable on both ends doesn’t change the image at all.
I would return the cable or test on a friends console. If the replacement comes and is purple too, then the fault must lie with the PlayStation itself.
