I’ve tried using a Retrotink 2X Mini since a few days and I’m encountering some problems.
Whenever I connect and power on my N64, SNES or Wii the output on my PC Monitor (HDMI) is offset on the bottom of the screen. The bottom of the image is just out of view. Aside from that, there’s a vertical, blue, line on the left side of the screen.
Now when I unplug and reconnect the yellow cable (while everything is running) the image is fine and well. On the N64 the the off centering reoccurs as soon as a new level in a game loads.
I have tried different cables and another screen but the problem persists. On the Sega Mega Drive, however the screen is centered but there’s no colour.
Could anyone help me figure out how to solve this?
January 22, 2022 at 1:38 PM #51382If you power cycle the RetroTINK or the monitor, does that fix it?
January 22, 2022 at 1:49 PM #51383Power Cycling the screen or the Retrotink doesn’t seem to fix it. Sometimes, like 1 in 20 times, rebooting the console seems to give the correct output.
January 22, 2022 at 2:26 PM #51385PAL or NTSC consoles?
January 22, 2022 at 2:35 PM #51386All consoles I use are PAL (and games also).
January 22, 2022 at 4:52 PM #51388After some more fiddling around I noticed that pulling the power plug from the Retrotink and putting it back afterwards (while both the screen and console are running) does actually work. But it’s not permanent, as soon as I switch a level (trying this with THPS 2 on N64) the screen is off centered again.

January 24, 2022 at 9:34 AM #51425I’ve switched the monitor (another PC HDMI 1080 screen) and I’ve gotten some good results. Now whenever I power on everything at the exact same time, or turn on the Retrotink Mini last, it works fine. The screen is centered and stays this way even after loading different screens or levels in a game. It even seems I can turn of the console and put in another game while keeping the correct centering.
When I plug everything in and turn on the console last, it’s not centered. So somehow it seems as if it has something to do with the sequence I put through signals to the Retrotink. The monitor I initially tried may have had some downtime or signal loss in between screens.
I’m not sure if this is how the Retrotink Mini should function, but it’s workable now (as long as I use the correct sequence of turning devices on).
January 26, 2022 at 5:03 PM #51463I did manage to catch Mike on Discord and he says he’s not seen any reports of it either. Make sure you’re on the latest firmware for the mini too.
May 8, 2022 at 2:07 PM #53246Having the same issues with PAL consoles on my Retrotink 2x pro. Need to do some more testing and update the firmware.
Currently tried it with 2 different Gamecubes (PAL) on two different TV’s.
After I have checked more consoles and updated firmware I will report back.
May 9, 2022 at 8:00 PM #53265Consoles I checked on old firmware:
PS2: Not centered
PS3: Works fine
N64: Works fine
SNES: Not centered
Gamecube: Not centered -
