I have an audio issue with my MSX2 (Philips NMS8245), the RetroTINK 2X SCART and (seemingly) my Denon AVR-X2600H.
I don’t have any video problems, that works in all combinations. Also when I connect the MSX2 and the RetroTink directly (via HDMI) to my TV (LG OLED C9, OLED65C9PLA) and my computer monitor (Alienware AW3423DW) audio also works.
The issue is that when I connect it to my Denon AVR-X2600H receiver there is no sound. This is the intended setup and the reason I bought the RetroTink. The image works perfectly on the LG TV, but no sound. When I switch the SCART cable to an ancient Philips HDD recorder / DVD player, sound immediately works.
I noticed that when I put the HDMI cable in the TV that is connected to the Denon via E-ARC: The sound of the MSX does not work initially, but when I first connect the Philips HDD recorder (the audio works) and then switch the SCART cable to the MSX, the sound of the MSX works! When I switch the MSX off and on (or switch the HDMI input on the Denon), the sound does not work anymore.
I don’t know which firmware I have installed on the RetroTINK. I don’t know how I can see that. I received it about 3 weeks ago from videogameperfection.com, so I assume that it is on the most recent version. I read a remark in the manual that there might be an “off-spec video timing of some-retro consoles causes some displays to reject the audio stream”, but I would really like to think that the RetroTINK can take care of that.
I hope someone on this forum can help me with this; I did not get a reply on the Discord. Thanks!
