I’m now running my RetroTink 5X into my OSSC Pro for PS1 content (love that the OSSC Pro can power the RT5X with its USB port!) and when looking at my video captures I noticed I didn’t have any sound.  It’s not even a real issue since my setup allows me to get the audio from AV2 on the OSSC Pro, but I’m just stumped why it happens in the first place. Sure, the OSSC Pro goes through a few HDMI splitters before it reaches my capture card, but there shouldn’t be HDCP anywhere in the chain.

      My equipment chain:

      (1) PS1 with sync-on-luma SCART cable (2) gscartsw (3) RGB2COMP (4) gcompsw #1 (5) gcompsw #2 (6a) OSSC Pro & (6b) powered component splitter (7) RetroTink 5X (8) OSSC Pro (9) TESmart HDMI switcher (10) HDMI splitter with 3.5mm audio out  (11) generic 1 in, 4 out HDMI splitter (12a) HDTV & (12b) Blackmagic UltraStudio Recorder 3G capture card

Not sure why you’d want to do that as the RT5x will simply add lag to the video chain, but I’d start by checking exactly at which point the sound is lost in your video chain.

I tried my Switch into OSSC Pro just now and I’m getting audio from AV4 as I should, so it seems to me this problem of “no audio on AV4 with a RT5X+OSSC Pro combo” is either a quirk of the RT5X or some combination of things.

As for why I’m adding the RT5X, I needed all of the following or it just wouldn’t be worth it:

          1. Low lag: The low lag of the RT5X was made even lower by porting over features from the RT4K.
          2. Seamless 240p/480i switching:  The RT5X handles this without a problem in 1080p Over. On the OSSC Pro, I still drop on Scaler Mode + Scaling algorithm: Integer (overscan). It’s fine without the overscan, but I can’t go back to that anymore.
          3. HDR injection (a.k.a. “fake HDR”): My 1080p TV doesn’t seem to support HDR from the OSSC Pro, and from what I see on the RT4K wiki, even the RT4K doesn’t have HDR injection. Looks good to me and plays nice with my capture card.

Plus according to this tweet, I still get 4:4:4 with the RT5X in all 1080p modes for PS1 (not so for the Saturn). And easy composite and s-video in for the OSSC Pro. I couldn’t do my fine-tuning on anything but the OSSC Pro though.

Faux HDR injection works the same on OSSC Pro as RT5x, so not sure what you mean by your TV doesn’t support it, what happens when you try to use it?
