When using a VHS player connected through the RetroTINK 2X Pro, the picture blacks out when there’s too much noise. It also blacks out when fast-forwarding, both on VHS and LaserDisc. Other cheaper converters don’t do this. What is the cause of this and do the RetroTINK Mini & Multiformat act the same way? It’s a shame because apart from this it works great with VHS & LD.

Yeah unfortunately VHS is a bit of an oddball signal and difficult to deal with. RetroTINK products aren’t really designed with VHS or laserdisc in mind.

I know, but what is the actual reason for RetroTINK having more troubles with this than other converters? Is it because it doesn’t scale the video?

Other converters do struggle, you could try coupling it with an external time base corrector.
