I’m trying to get my Wii to have a proper 16:9 ratio on my monitor (1080p). I set the Wii to 480p and widescreen in the system menu, but the OSSC doesn’t seem to output it at 16:9. It has a 16:9 and 4:3 option but only for line triple mode, which is only compatible with 240p sources. When I set my monitor’s ratio to either full or 1:1, I can see the output from the OSSC doesn’t change, so the image is squished on the monitor. If I set the monitor to stretch the image, I get still get pillarboxing and the image quality is blurrier than if I just leave the Wii at 4:3. This is using component input and output via DVI to HDMI.

This is normal behaviour for the Wii I’m afraid, it doesn’t have a true widescreen mode, just 4:3 stretched.

Does the OSSC’s 480p lineX2 mode make the image less blurry?

Did a little research and yeah, the Wii definitely uses traditional anamorphic widescreen rather than true 16:9.

Line double doesn’t make it less blurry. The pixels get distorted either way, so I just set it back to 4:3.
