Hi, thank you for your response!
I bought this N64 from a small shop based in Sweden that imports and sells japanese games and consoles, with the option to RGB mod them. It’s called “Japan Spel Shop” (Japan Game Shop). Since it’s all written in Swedish, I’ll spare you the pain of translating and post this snippet that’s in the description for these consoles. It’s apparently modded “using the best method available” which then links to this: https://mmmonkey.co.uk/ntsc-nintendo-64-rgb/
I don’t really know what this means. I know some machines can put out c-sync signals, while others can only do luma. I do not have a good enough understanding of this to know what is what, though. My receipt says that it’s using “Luma sync”.
As for the cables that I’ve tried, they sell one on this shop that is supposedly RGB Scart, not a lot of info to go with that. So I’ve tried that one, which didn’t work. Then, I figured maybe that one is just bad, so I ordered another cable that is seemingly built specifically for RGB modded N64’s called “Packapunch”. That didn’t work either.
In terms of testing on other TVs, sadly I haven’t had that opportunity as I do not own an older TV that is compatible with direct SCART inputs. It is very possible the console itself might be messed up.
The console itself turns on fine, nothing really happens with the Retrotink itself (I was worried if I messed up the cables I would blow both this things up and the TV) and the second I swap to a non-modded RGB N64 using s-video, it all works like a charm.
