Looks like you’re right paulb_nl, I was able to achieve the same effect with the default Sync LPF/Vth settings with only two changes.
Video LPF: Off
Sampling phase: 56 deg (was at 90 before)It looks like the video LPF makes the blur worse on my end, no amount of sampling phase tweaking would give me clean edges with that enabled.
Thanks for this! The reverse LPF has greatly improved my 2-chip SNES image in optimised mode. I initially had the issue with bright pixels when using too much reverse LPF. I found I needed to make the following tweaks:
Video LPF: Off
Analog sync LPF: 10Mhz
Analog sync Vth: 45mVI’m guessing that these settings effectively move the horizontal sampling offset slightly in optimised mode. It’s enough that Reverse LPF setting of 3 can eliminate the effect almost completely, for my SNES at least.
Without “Full TX Setup” enabled the sync switches constantly as with 0.76. In fact I’ve since found that I don’t need AV3 interlacefix turned on at all.
I’ve found there is still an issue where the OSSC can lock to 313p instead of 625i (my TV can’t sync to whatever that outputs) and the interlacefix doesn’t prevent this.
It only happens if AV3 isn’t selected when the Dreamcast boots up. If AV3 is selected when I turn on the DC it will work correctly, even after changing inputs, at least until I power-cycle the OSSC.I just updated to 0.77, and it fixed the sync issue I had with the Dreamcast over AV3. I had to enable both AV3 interlacefix and Full TX Setup in the Compatibility menu. Problem solved! Thanks marqs! 😀
I had an issue with syncing a 625i signal on VGA with 0.76. It seems to be a bug with the new line 3-5 multiplier modes. The workaround I found was to set the 240/288p multiplier mode to Line2x.
Your signal has a different resolution/refresh rate, so this may not be the same issue.
Even the dashboard failed for me, along with every other PAL game.
But I found a workaround! Everything syncs properly if 240p/288p line multiple is set to Line2x, but ONLY Line2x. If it’s Line3x or higher, or Passthru, the 625i signal over VGA fails to sync.
I noticed that even when 240p is set to Line2x, the OSSC seems to initially think the signal is 313p and then quickly switches to 625i.
I’m unable to replicate this, no problems with my modded VGA box (this one http://www.racketboy.com/retro/vgabox3.jpg)
I’m using a modded VGA cable (this guy). Did you try with NTSC or PAL? Games that run at 60Hz/480i work fine with 0.76 for me too, it’s the 50Hz interlaced signal that’s causing the sync issue. I’m using a PAL Dreamcast, in case that wasn’t clear. 🙂
The 0.76 update causes issues for me with running 15kHz signals over VGA (from Dreamcast), the sync constantly switches between 312p, 313p and 625i (PAL 50Hz). I rolled back to 0.75 and it syncs properly.
