Gamecube vs. Wii Component Output

gamecube-component-cablesOver on the Shmups forum, user Sixfortyfive and Artemio (author of the 240p test suite) have posted an amazing in-depth comparison of the video output quality of the Wii and Gamecube consoles. Sixfortyfive has taken dozens of screenshots comparing the output, while Artemio went to the trouble of testing the strength of the signal with an oscilloscope. While the screenshots do not show a profound difference in quality, it is pretty much proven from this research that the picture quality is slightly better on the Gamecube, although for most gamers the difference isn’t pronounced enough to warrant spending big bucks on a set of Gamecube component cables.
