    It depends on what you mean by loss. By going from digital to analogue, you’re potentially losing an insignificant amount of fidelity (which can be exacerbated by poorly-shielded cabling), and the OSSC needs to then sample and interpret the analogue signals, converting back to digital; but a good-quality converter and shielded cables will mitigate quality loss from the digital->analogue->digital conversion. If the OSSC had a digital input, then you wouldn’t lose anything; but the hardware design to date doesn’t have anything like that.
