I do own both and I even have the original Component Cable for the GameCube (yeah… One of my first buys back in the early 2000) but I use the Wii for both Wii and GameCube games. I only do it because of the virtual Memory Card Nintendont creates – as far as I know, Swiss doesn’t allow that on the Cube, so it’s a disadvantage against the Wii. But yes, I can tell from direct experience that the GameCube has (with component) a far better picture.

Now since I haven’t been able to find any other info, I decided to buy a second Wii on eBay. It’s a CPU-60 revision, so the last revision with GameCube ports. Since people say it has a better image quality, I will compare them directly and figure out what is true and what isn’t.

It’s a win for me since the newer revision has far less energy consumption anyway. 🙂
